Why It Took 3 Years to Bring Ramedica Herbal Wonder Balm Back to the U.S.

For nearly 30 years, we’ve been making Ramedica Herbal Wonder Balm right here in Malaysia — a balm rooted in nature, formulated by my father, and trusted by thousands for fast, natural relief. It’s part of my family’s legacy, and it’s helped people all over the world.

But for the past 3 years, Ramedica Herbal Wonder Balm disappeared from the U.S. And today, I want to share why — and how we finally brought it back.

A Balm with Roots — and a Global History

Outside of Malaysia, it’s known as Ramedica Herbal Wonder Balm. Locally, we sell the same product under the name Ramedica Pain Relief Balm to meet Malaysian regulatory requirements. It’s the exact same formula, made with camphor, menthol, and a blend of powerful plant oils — only the name changes.

My father, a botanist and dharma teacher, created this balm with one goal: to offer natural, effective pain relief to every household. For decades, we quietly fulfilled that vision — manufacturing and exporting Ramedica Herbal Wonder Balm with no issues.

Until 2020, when everything changed.

The Pandemic & a Price Tag We Never Saw Coming

When the world shut down, so did our supply chain. But we recovered. By 2021, we resumed exporting to the U.S.

Then came a curveball: a notification in May 2022 from the FDA informing us we were in arrears — tens of thousands of dollars due, plus late fees under a new regulation called OMUFA (Over-the-Counter Monograph User Fee Act). Our balm was detained. We couldn’t fulfil U.S. orders.

We paid the fee — but it only covered us until December, when another massive fee was due. It became clear this would be an ongoing, increasing annual cost, not a one-time issue.

Searching for Solutions — and Choosing the Wrong Partner

We decided to partner with a facility that was already registered and absorbing that cost. They seemed perfect — family-owned, nature based, values aligned with ours.

But after we sent the deposit, nothing went as promised.

Delays. Excuses. Ingredient shortages. Deaths in the family. Cyclones. Prioritising other clients. After 20 months, we had no product. No transparency. And no trust left.

We pulled out — and we’re still fighting to get our deposit back.

The Personal Toll Behind the Scenes

While all this was unfolding behind the scenes, I was quietly moving through one of the hardest seasons of my life. In September, a personal health crisis reached its peak. I was hospitalised and told I needed surgery — but first, I had to regain enough strength for it. Then, just three weeks before my scheduled operation, I received the most devastating call of my life: my youngest sister had lost her life to suicide. It shattered me.

Still, through the heartbreak and all of the setbacks, I kept holding on to the vision — because Ramedica isn’t just a product. It’s part of how I’m healing, too.

Coming Full Circle — A Sacred Return to Ramedica Herbal Wonder Balm

In spring of 2025, we made the decision to return home. We brought production back to our trusted, FDA-compliant facility in Melaka, where Ramedica has always been made.

It’s the same formula. The same ingredients and the same integrity. Now fully registered for U.S. distribution — and it’ll finally be available again in the US this month! I’m beyond excited!
