Reflecting on my past as a yoga teacher, I now see what I didn’t back then: pain has a message. When I tore my rotator cuff, it wasn’t just my body crying out — it was my spirit too.

It didn’t happen in a dramatic fall or accident. It started with an irritation in my upper back — the kind of discomfort I brushed off with the usual mindset:
Power through it. Stretch more. Stay strong.

Back then, rest wasn’t part of the vocabulary. Discipline was. And so I pushed through… until I couldn’t.

Eventually, the pain became so intense I had to stop practising completely. The MRI showed I’d torn my supraspinatus, one of the tendons in the rotator cuff. Recovery was long and humbling.

And as my body started to speak louder… I began to realise it wasn’t the only part of me in pain.

When pain is more than physical

At the time, I was in a relationship that, deep down, I knew was over.
He wasn’t a bad person. But we were in different places — wanting different things.
Still, I didn’t want to let go. I was clinging, hoping, trying to make it work.

Each time the thought of leaving arose, I pushed it down.
Until eventually, the anxiety started bubbling up.
And soon, I found myself experiencing panic attacks.

I didn’t connect it at first. The shoulder injury. The anxiety. The grief of a relationship I wasn’t ready to release.
But when I look back now — it’s so clear.

My body was speaking.
And I wasn’t listening.

The turning point: behind the heart

I saw everyone — osteopaths, acupuncturists, physiotherapists, chiropractors.
Nothing really helped.
There was some relief… but the pain always returned.

One day, my chiropractor looked at me and asked:
“Do you know anything about the chakras?”

When I asked why, she said:

“I’ve been treating you for six weeks. Every time you leave, your tension is gone. But by your next session, it’s right back where it started. I think there’s something deeper here. Your injury sits right behind your heart. I wonder if this is a heart chakra issue. Pain has a message; is something weighing heavy on you?

I felt a lump rise in my throat.
Because yes, there was something weighing on me.
A truth I didn’t want to face.

The message was clear — and I finally listened

Eventually, I found the courage to end the relationship.
I packed up. Moved across the country. Started fresh.

And within a few months… the panic attacks vanished.
The pain in my shoulder began to ease.
My treatments started lasting longer.
I wasn’t just getting relief — I was healing.

Because I had finally received the message.

The pain wasn’t just in my shoulder.
It was in my heart.
And it was pointing me back to truth, to wholeness… to myself.

Pain as a messenger — not the enemy

This experience was one of the first times I began to understand pain in a completely new way.

It wasn’t something to fight.
It wasn’t just a symptom to suppress.
It was a signal. A wise, often inconvenient, but always compassionate nudge toward listening to my inner guidance.

It was a challenging and painful time in all areas of my life, but I’m grateful for it. Had I continued to power through the pain and ignore my inner guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today, writing this blog post! It’s one of the many puzzle pieces that led me to realise: pain has a message. It’s never just physical — it’s always something deeper.

It’s this understanding that forms the foundation of everything I do now — from sharing Ramedicare’s products, health & wellness tips, to assisting my Mom in Anchoring the Light Ministry for deep emotional & spiritual healing.

Because healing, I’ve come to believe, is never just physical; it’s emotional, energetic and spiritual.

How Ramedicare and ATL came to reflect that truth

Ramedicare began as a natural pain relief company founded by my dad — a botanist and dharma teacher. His vision was simple: relief with integrity.

But in truth, this balm has always carried more than just herbal ingredients.
For me, it carries memories, wisdom and connection.

It reminds me to slow down. To breathe.
To listen to what hurts — and to respond with love.

This is why I now see Ramedicare and ATL Ministry as two sides of the same coin.

One brings relief to the body.
The other brings healing to the spirit.

Both help us remember:
Pain has a message. And you are allowed to listen.

If you’re in pain right now…

Whether your body is aching or your heart is breaking — I want you to know:
You are not broken.
You are not alone.
And healing is possible.

If you’re facing pain right now, I invite you to listen in. What might it be trying to tell you?

Pain has a message. Are you listening?
